TEACUP TABLECLOTH - CLICK ON ANY PHOTO TO ENLARGE

FOR SOME STRANGE REASON, I AM FASCINATED BY ANYTHING WITH A TEACUP MOTIF
IN VIEW OF THE FACT THAT I AM NOT A TEA DRINKER, I'M NOT SURE WHY I'M THIS WAY
BUT I AM
I FOUND THIS TABLECLOTH WHILE ON A RECENT TRIP TO BELGIUM AND I WENT NUTS
I'M SURE IT WOULD BE PRETTIER IF I BOTHERED TO IRON - YEAH, RIGHT
TEACUP TABLECLOTHS ARE HARD TO FIND.  I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIRTY-SOME YEARS AND HAVE ONLY  FOUND TWO, BOTH IN EUROPE.
I HOPE YOU LIKE IT TOO!

FINALLY SPRING - CLICK ON ANY PHOTO TO ENLARGE

MY SPRING TABLESCAPE WAS INSPIRED BY THE BEAUTIFUL BLUE DELFT VASE THAT WAS A GIFT FROM MY FRIEND, MARILYN.
IT ACTUALLY SNOWED THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING WHERE I LIVE, BUT NOW THE WEATHER IS BEAUTIFUL
THE PRETTY LITTLE DISHES PAINTED WITH BLUEBERRIES ARE ALSO A GIFT FROM MARILYN.  SHE PICKS OUT GREAT STUFF!!
I BOUGHT A NEW YELLOW TABLECLOTH AND PAIRED IT WITH SOME LACE PLACE MATS AND BLUE AND WHITE TOILE DISHES FROM 222 FIFTH.
A LITTLE BIRD LOOKS AT SOME BLUE GLASS EGGS
WHAT ELSE TO PUT IN A VASE THAT COMES FROM THE NETHERLANDS  --- TULIPS
CAN YOU SEE THE WINDMILL PAINTED ON THE VASE?
OKAY, SO THE NAPKIN RINGS AREN'T TULIPS; YELLOW DAFFODILS WILL HAVE TO DO.
IT'S BEEN A LONG WINTER,  SO IT FELT GREAT TO BE TABLESCAPING FOR SPRING.

I HAD A PHOTO DILEMMA TODAY.  IF I USED MORE LIGHT, THE WRINKLES IN THE TABLECLOTH DIDN'T  SHOW; HOWEVER, THE LIGHT  CAPTURED  THOSE CRAZY SHADOWS.
I'M SO INTO SPRING I'M EVEN IN THE MOOD FOR CLEANING.
DID I REALLY JUST SAY THAT?
THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO VIEW MY SPRING TABLESCAPE.  I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT.

NEW YEAR'S EVE 2014 - CLICK ON ANY PHOTO TO ENLARGE

THIS IS MY MY NEW YEAR'S EVE TABLESCAPE
I THOUGHT A WHITE TABLECLOTH  WOULD BE AN APPROPRIATE BACKDROP TO SHOW OFF THE LOVELY DISHES MY FRIEND MARLENE GAVE TO ME 10 YEARS AGO.  IF YOU'D LIKE, YOU CAN READ ABOUT MARLENE'S DISHES AT THE END OF THIS BLOG.
AS PART OF THE TABLESCAPE, I PLACED BOTH PEACH AND CLEAR DISCS IN THE BOTTOM OF THREE ELONGATED VESSELS AND FILLED THEM WITH WATER.
I USED LED LIGHTS THAT YOU CAN SUBMERGE.  I FOUND THEM AT BED, BATH AND BEYOND,  BUT I KNOW MICHAEL'S HAS THEM ALSO.
I THEN FLOATED  PEACH COLORED ROSES AND SOME LILIES ON TOP
I USED A VARIETY OF FUN GOLD NAPKINS RINGS
AND ALTERNATED WHITE NAPKINS WITH THOSE THAT HAVE GOLD SPARKLE
GOLD FLATWARE HELPS TIE THINGS TOGETHER
FIRST COURSE:  ARUGULA SALAD WITH ROASTED PECANS, ROASTED FIGS, AND  FIG PRESERVE ON TOP

WISHING ALL MY FELLOW TABLESCAPERS A  HEALTHY AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING ALL OF YOUR  YOUR BEAUTIFUL TABLESCAPES  IN  2015.

Marlene's Dishes

Some of my dishes have a story to go with them. Such is the case with this week's tablescape--

Marlene was my sister's very best friend from the time they first met, soon after my sister married in 1966. I, being the younger sister and about fifteen years old at the time, loved to babysit for Marlene's children. Not only were her two boys adorable, Marlene also made me the best food to eat while I babysat. While other families I sat for put out a bag of potato chips or a bag of pretzels, Marlene used to whip up fresh chicken salad or whatever I felt like eating. Through the years, Marlene was not just my sister's friend, she was family. And like family, we've also been through some very rough times together-- We lost both Marlene's husband and my sister over twenty years ago.

All though the years when I went to Marlene's house, I loved to look at her beautiful china arranged in her china cabinet. In my eyes, Marlene owned the most beautiful china I had ever seen. Then, for my husband and my 30th wedding anniversary, Marlene gave her gorgeous Rosenthal china  dishes (along with her beautiful glassware, I might add) to us as an anniversary gift. Marlene, knowing how much I love dishes and how much I loved her dishes especially, presented my husband and me with this most special and generous gift. Now, whenever I set the table or hand wash these magnificent dishes I think of how over the years my sister, Marlene's husband, as well as many other loved ones who are no longer with us  sat around Marlene's dining room table-- All of us together, eating Marlene's delicious food off of these very dishes.

Thank you Marlene!
